You voted last year’s British Grand Prix as your favourite race of 2022, so we’ve compiled extended highlights of that scintillating clash at Silverstone…
Max Verstappen entered as championship leader following his victory in Canada, and the Dutchman was hoping for a maiden British Grand Prix victory. But a wet qualifying session saw Verstappen settle for second to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz – who took his first career pole position.
Sunday’s race began in spectacular fashion as Zhou Guanyu’s Alfa Romeo was upended and sent flying into the catch fence at Turn 1, which brought out a red flag.
The race restarted in the starting order and Verstappen took the lead before slowing as he collected debris. A Safety Car late on then led to one of 2022’s most incredible moments, as Lewis Hamilton sparred with Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. As for Sainz, he took his first career victory on a spectacular Sunday.
