See how Max Verstappen’s raw talent, speed and determination behind the wheel took him from being F1’s youngest rookie driver to a double world champion, in the latest edition of Rise of the Rookie.

Verstappen sealed his second Formula 1 World Championship at Suzuka having overcome a rough start to the season – that included two retirements in the first three weekends – to amass an unassailable lead over Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

From a racing family – his mother Sophie Kumpen was a karting ace and his father Jos a former F1 driver – Verstappen rose through the ranks to become the youngest karting world champion.

The Dutchman was a sensational talent in junior series too – so much so that he was catapulted into Formula 1 in 2015, skipping GP2 to join Toro Rosso in the highest tier of motorsport at the age of just 17. It was controversial but he would soon go on to become F1’s youngest points scorer… and then youngest Grand Prix winner.

See how Verstappen’s career unfolded form his earliest day in karting to his Suzuka championship success in the latest episode of Rise of the Rookie by hitting play on the video above.
